Downmall 2017: Frankfurt

First race of the season was scheduled for Essen in the second week of January but due to security circumstances, the race had to be cancelled. This was very frustrating for all riders as we had been training for the winter off season in full prep mod ready to go nuts at the first race!
Frankfurt was scheduled for the week after which then became round 1 of the Downmall series. The track was the longest of the Downmall series, it also contains some wider corners than the other rounds which means racing line is key to a good result. I took the Orange Crush with a very specific race set up for this course.

Practice went well and I was sitting in 2nd place after qualifying. The top 20 knock out round sat me in the top position going into the final 10 race. I had never been the fastest qualifier for a race which meant I got to race last after all the other competitors had set their times. I'd saved a fair amount of energy through the day and knew that I could give my final run everything I have! The last corner of the race fires you into the last escalator of which I decided to jump and land at the finish line. Setting a winning time of 46.33.
The feeling of winning is something I can't even describe. Months of hard work behind the scenes finally paid off. Of course I could not have done this without the incredible support and loyalty from my sponsors.

I was so happy to take the win
